R22 – The problem and our dedicated solutions
R22 is a hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC) gas which has been used as a refrigerant in many refrigeration and air conditioning systems. Sales and use of new “virgin” R22 was banned by law from 1 January 2010. From 1 January 2015, sales or use of recycled/recovered R22 will be prohibited, however refrigerant wholesalers are already stating they have no supplies of recycled R22 for onward selling. Air-conditioning and refrigeration systems installed up to 2003 are likely to use R22 refrigerant.
